Visit Wuthering Heights at East Riddlesden Hall | Yorkshire

If you have watched the 2009 ITV adaptation of Wuthering Heights, you have already seen East Riddlesden Hall. The National Trust property near Keighley doubled as Wuthering Heights in the series, standing in for the Earnshaw family home where Heathcliff and Cathy grow up. The connection is easy to miss. On screen, clever editing places the house on the moors. In reality it sits beside a busy road. The crew built a temporary gate in the middle of nowhere for some shots and spliced that footage together with scenes filmed at the hall, which is why the building is rarely recognised as the filming location. Most of the exterior shots were taken at the front entrance, which is also where you go in for a tour of the interior. The indoor scenes were filmed elsewhere. ## Visiting East Riddlesden Hall The hall has a beautiful garden, a small cafe and an interior you can tour. Allow roughly one and a half to two hours so you can wander at your ease, though a quick stop is possible if you are short on time. National Trust members get in free, so bring your membership card. ## Getting there ### From Keighley Take the 662 shuttle bus, which leaves Keighley Station every 20 minutes. You can pay by contactless on board. The walk from the station takes about 25 minutes if you prefer to go on foot. ### From Haworth If you are staying in Haworth for a Brontë-themed trip, take the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway steam train from Haworth to Keighley, then continue by bus or on foot. ### From elsewhere Keighley is reachable by train from most directions in the UK. The journey from York takes about an hour and a half.
