Slow Fashion Favourites | Thought Clothing
Thought Clothing was one of the first brands I found when I started researching ethical clothing and slow fashion, so you can imagine how happy I was to find an email asking if I wanted to try out their 2018 Spring collection.

Thought Clothing was one of the first brands I came across when I started looking into ethical clothing and slow fashion. Back then it traded under the name Braintree. The brand works to minimise its environmental footprint, supports slow fashion, and uses plenty of naturally grown bamboo, cotton, wool and hemp. I was given the chance to try some pieces from its 2018 spring collection, so I picked a few items and took them out for a day in Bath on a sunny weekend. The result was a lot of bright yellow, some beautiful buildings and a fair amount of awkward posing. ## My daily uniform My style is fairly simple and hasn’t changed much over the years. Most days I wear: - Sturdy black or grey laced boots, which work as well for walking around London as they do for a muddy field in the countryside - Black leggings, which I wear almost every day - A skirt rather than jeans, usually a black or tan corduroy short skirt or a flowy black midi - A striped top, with or without a turtleneck It’s a straightforward look: part kid on their first day of school, part timeless basics like a trench coat and black and white stripes. I know what I like, and it’s been good to find a brand I can turn to whenever I need to replace a stripy top or a pair of leggings. ## Stripes and leggings I own more than ten stripy tops and I’m not ready to admit that’s a problem. The grey and black striped top I chose has small buttons at the bottom and a loose, casual cut. The leggings are from Thought too, and I’d bought several pairs from them before this, so that’s two staples sorted. ## The yellow cardigan This cardigan has been a favourite for a few months and I mostly wear it over tops at work, where the office tends to be chilly. It isn’t part of the spring collection, but it brightens up any outfit, so it deserves a mention. ## The yellow blouse The yellow blouse is the standout piece of the collection. The fabric is very light and I liked wearing it with the sleeves rolled up. It would work well with a skirt or a pair of jeans in summer, and it’s a good option if you don’t often wear bright colours and want to try one. Add a red lipstick and you have a combination that works. ## Sizing note I usually wear a size 16. I’m wearing both tops in an 18, though a 16 might have fitted better in the striped top. A 16 in the yellow blouse did fit, but I preferred the looser cut. The leggings are a size 16. ## Pieces featured - Yellow Perilla Spot Printed Button Up Blouse (organic cotton) — £49.90 - Campbell Stripy Jersey Top (organic cotton) — £29.90 - Plain Bamboo Organic Cotton Leggings — £24.90 - Vivienne Long Yellow Cardigan — £32.00
